Optimising autologous adipose tissue suitability as an adjunct to human breast reconstruction
This PhD project aims to identify adipose tissue donor site most suited to deliver lasting effects of lipomodelling breast reconstruction. Adipose tissue volume loss is a known issue leading to patient dissatisfaction and likely return to the surgery. Identification of most suited donor site based on research analysis, may result or contribute to lasting surgery outcomes and therefore, lasting patient satisfaction with their body image, decreased probability of corrective surgery being required, meaning, patient can only focus on recovery. Additionally, reduced cost for the NHS and reduced patient waiting lists.
The project is currently funded by kind donations from the Treasure Chest Charity and P2P funding. The Awyr Las application is also composed to further fund the research project.
